Anyone in central Maine looking for a traditional Maine lobster dinner won't have to look far this summer.  The Skowhegan Rotary Club is hosting its 28th Lobster Bake on August 3 and celebrating the club's 90th birthday  in conjunction with River Fest 2012.   The lobster bake originated in 1984 and has continued as a major fundraiser for the club every summer.   It takes the help of nearly every club member, along with many other volunteers to cook over 1500 lobsters, shuck 1000 ears of corn, and serve the meals that include fresh butter,  a roll, cole slaw, and dessert.  People come from far and wide to enjoy a fresh Maine lobster and corn fresh the farm, all served under a large festive tent in downtown Skowhegan.   The price for a single lobster dinner is $13.00 in advance, $15.00 the day of the event.  For the heartier appetite, a double lobster dinner is also available for $23.00 in advance and $25.00 the day of the event.  For the non-lobster eaters, hamburgers and hot dogs are also available.    Funds from this annual event go towards the many charitable causes that this Rotary Club supports in the greater Skowhegan area.  If you find yourself looking for a real Maine experience, whether you are a Maine native or a visitor, find your way to downtown Skowhegan on August 3 between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. and let one of the friendly Rotarians cook you lobster.  And while you are there, wish the Skowhegan Rotary Club a happy 90th birthday!
