July 2010

First, I want to tell you that it is an honor and a privilege for me, as 2010-2011 District Governor, to serve you, the clubs and members of District 7790.

It is also with humility that I accepted the role of Governor, as the responsibilities are very large and the expectations of the clubs are sometimes very high.

My years in the Quebec-Val-Belair Rotary club and in the district programs have taught me that nothing can be done alone. The governor needs a team and committees to meet the goals of clubs. With the support that the Assistant Governors and committees have agreed to provide, we will work hard to serve you and meet your needs.

In Rotary, we need leaders, change agents, enthusiastic members, people who want to improve their community, and the respect and tolerance of differences. I firmly believe that if each of us in our clubs and our respective committees gives the best of ourselves, we can accomplish great things together in 2010-2011, and we will be proud. And if we are proud to belong to Rotary, we must also be aware that our responsibilities are changing. Our success will depend on the time, talent and tenacity that each one of you will be ready to give to energize your club.

We are Rotarians; our mission is summed up in the theme of our International President, Mr. Ray Klinginsmith: Building communities; Bridging continents.

Have a great year.

Claude Martel,
Gouvernor 2010-11
District 7790
