MILLINOCKET — The Maine Forest Products Council recognized Patty Cormier, Director of the Maine Forest Service, with the organization’s prestigious Abby Holman Public Service Award at its Annual Membership Meeting on September 13. Presented by Maine Forest Products Council Vice President Alex Ingraham, the award recognizes Cormier’s dedication to sustainable forest management, wildfire prevention and community leadership. “As Director of the Maine Forest Service, Patty has demonstrated strong support of Maine’s forest industry with her enthusiastic promotion of Outcome Based Forestry and her tireless efforts on behalf of the Spruce Budworm EIS program,” said Ingraham. “She effectively advocated for its funding both in Augusta and in Washington, D.C. and coordinated the implementation of this new, complex program across many stakeholders.
