From the author of Halfway There and Lunenburg comes the US premiere of a hilarious and heartwarming new comedy about love, family and significant others. When a widowed father summons his grown children home to share some “big news”, they are convinced he must be dying – why else would he pay for the plane tickets? But dad has good news - he’s fallen in love and wants to introduce her!  Whether you’re a parent or a child, this delightfully funny comedy about the way we expand our hearts to expand our family is for you.

The Shoe Guy
Andre Juarez, Sr. The Shoe Guy Aug. 27, 2026

Entrepreneur, current small business owner, lover of Maine and road cycling enthusiast. The Shoe Guy is a brick and mortar comfort shoe store, nestled in the western Maine hub of Farmington. Feet are about to be comfy round here!

My belief is that customer service isn’t just a thing sales people have to focus on, it’s the only thing, and it’s lacking in businesses of all types today. The way I plan on making customer service the only thing is to branch out as an entrepreneur and start my own business. Enter in The Shoe Guy!

I will continue to work on helping my community by merging my dreams with my biggest passions; the Maine outdoors, comfort and health, and road cycling. I plan to devote my future towards achieving these goals, by helping my community walk in comfort, and to put Maine on the map as a go to destination for cycle tourism.

Fly Rod Crosby Project
Roger Lambert Fly Rod Crosby Project Sep. 10, 2026

REMEMBERING OUR HERITAGE

When the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife moves to its new Augusta headquarters in 2026 on the east bank of the Kennebec River, the Friends of Fly Rod Crosby will be there to dedicate a monument that will honor Cornelia Thurza Crosby.

“Fly Rod” Crosby was the unsurpassed fly fishing guide of the Rangeley Lakes who took her show on the road in the 1890s to market Maine far and wide. For her vision, outdoor skills and accomplishments, conservation ethic, and advocacy for the licensing of wilderness guides, “Fly Rod” was awarded Maine Guide license Number One.

Inducted into the Maine Women’s Hall of Fame in 2018 she began to receive due recognition for her contribution Maine’s reputation as vacationland.

A BRONZE STATUE TO HONOR FLY ROD

Our mission is to raise the needed funds from private donors and sponsors to present the state of Maine with a bronze statue of Cornelia Crosby which will stand outside the entrance to the new headquarters of the MDIFW (or an appropriate location on the grounds).  Our goal is to unveil the monument at the dedication of the new Department building.  Once she is standing where she can look across the Kennebec our work will be done.

The 2022 Maine budget approved by Governor Janet Mills gave the state permission to buy two parcels of land in Augusta and build a new facility to serve as headquarters for the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife.

Benedict Arnold's march through the Maine wilderness
Kenny Wing Benedict Arnold's march through the Maine wilderness Sep. 24, 2026

Kenny R. Wing, co-author, The Lost Villages of Flagstaff Lake and noted expert of Benedict Arnold’s march through the Maine wilderness.

Eight years after the Arnold Expedition, the Robert Forbes family traveled the same route from the south side of the St. Lawrence River to the Kennebec River, essentially retracing Arnold’s route in reverse. Based on a true story, the family of six emigrated from England to Canada to build a better life. Circumstances soon forced the family to leave Quebec and join Robert’s brother in the District of Maine. Led by three unscrupulous fur trappers who agreed to guide the young family through the 200-mile wilderness, the family was soon abandoned to fend for themselves. Kalloch draws on the journals of several men from the Arnold Expedition as the Forbes family struggles to reach the Kennebec River.
