New Club President, Paul Mills, a lively Orator, demonstrated his knowledge of interesting bits of history as he presided over the meeting on Thursday July 6, 2006. Paul even filled in for the Rotary Minute, giving us a dazzling demonstration of his unique abilities to discover interesting facts, as he informed us of the number "19". Paul informed us that the club was started with 19 members; there had been 19 President's from the beginning until now; it was 19 years ago that women joined Rotary; and it is 19 years until our Centennial celebration. We are all duly impressed and none can deny that this year with Paul Mills will prove to always be entertaining! Throughout the meeting, Paul's tidbits of interesting facts eloquently punctuated the meeting. This is going to be good . . .The Transition meeting was wonderful, with Adrian being gifted with one of the destined to be collectible chairs from Dan's company. Thank-you, Adrian, for a wonderful year of service to the club. And thank-you, Bill, for hosting it at your wonderful location on Clearwater Lake!

We had a special visitor today at the meeting, Jill Berry Bowen was with us. Our percentage for the month so far is 82.32. Doug sat in for Al Feather, our new Club Secretary, as Al is in Colombia visiting our friends there for whom we have gifted sewing machines. Doug read thank-you notes including one from the young fellow who attended Boys State via Rotary. Also, Arlene, and UMF retired Professor, was very grateful for a wheelchair ramp built for her use, due to advanced cancer. Fellow Rotarians Marty Pike, Troy Norton, and Adrian Harris answered the call to build this ramp from donated lumber. In her most gracious thank-you letter, she asked that the ramp be removed and donated to another in need once she is gone. Thanks to Marty, Troy, and Adrian for their service to this most grateful woman.

Joyce reported that the 4th of Jly parade was exceptionally wonderful this year, with 64 entries, including the corp of vintage tractors. Walter won a prize as did Dick Hutchinson. Great job, everyone!

Buzz kept us apprised of the continuing progress being made at Centennial Park. He reported that there is continual manicuring of this lovely setting and that there is now an effort aloft to build a bridge from the Whistlestop Trail across the river to the Centennial Park, so named in honor of the Centennial of Rotary International. What an amazing walk this will be to take; all are invited to help Buzz keep the park in tip top shape.

Mike Moffett inducted two new members: Jeff Harris of New Sharon, strongly resembling Adrian, and Jennifer Eriksen of UMF. Congratulations and welcome to you both! Paul Mills interjected that he has no words of wisdom, only words of fact . . .the fact that he shared with us was that we now have members number 72 and 73, demonstrating that we are not a part of the shrinking service club statistics. Rather, the Farmington Rotary club is growing!

The Happiest of the Happy Dollars today came from Pam West. Pam recently lost her home to a fire; she reported that she finally gathered the courage to go back and look at the ashes of her memories. When she arrived on her property, however, what met her was a perfect double rainbow! What a beautiful promise for her! We were all moved and thankful that she was gifted with such an image of hopefulness during such a time of loss. What a heartfelt way to conclude our first breakfast in July. Thank you so much, Pam, for sharing the photo of the double rainbow with all of us; this enabled us to share in the double promise of hope! That is all for this week; signing off, Susy Sanders :-D
