Left Out in America

Pat talked to the club about her new book,"Left Out in America". This book highlights the issue of homelessness. Pat stayed in 14 different homeless shelters across the US in preparing to write this story. She stayed only one night in each shelter but learned alot during this time period of 14 days. She shared that of the homeless she meet, 85% of them had jobs but didn't have a place to live. Many were young families that just couldn't afford homes. She shared some very enlightening stories in her normal lighthearted nature. Her stories were not lighthearted in content because it brought home realism of the plight of homeless that most of the Rotarians don't see or experience. Her book is just snapshots of the folks she met and their stories.
