| 2026-04-16 00:00:00Z | Apr. 15, 2026 | CLUB ASSEMBLY | All Club Topics Are Open | Apr. 16, 2026 |
A Rotary Club Assembly is a regular club meeting dedicated to discussing and coordinating club business, such as future plans, projects, and committee reports, rather than a formal program. These assemblies provide a forum for member participation, enabling the sharing of ideas, addressing concerns, and fostering a collective understanding of the club's direction, with the club president typically leading the discussion to ensure transparency and engagement. Key Purposes of a Rotary Club Assembly
Directors and committee chairs provide updates to the club on their projects and activities.
The assembly serves as a platform to develop long-term plans, coordinate committee efforts, and discuss upcoming initiatives for the new Rotary year.
Assemblies encourage members, especially new ones, to learn about the club's operations and contribute their ideas and feedback.
Members exchange information on topics of importance to the club, ensuring everyone is informed about goals and ongoing activities.
The meetings offer ongoing education about Rotary, including the importance of membership development, community outreach, and Rotary's values. How a Club Assembly Typically Works
The club president or a designated officer leads the assembly, guiding discussions and ensuring member interests are addressed.
Unlike a standard Rotary meeting, a club assembly lacks a pre-scheduled guest speaker or entertainment, focusing instead on internal club business and member interaction.
While past performance might be reviewed, the primary goal is to look forward, outlining the president's aspirations and the plans of various committees for the upcoming Rotary year.
The assembly provides a crucial opportunity for members to voice their ideas, concerns, and commitments to the club's goals. Why They Are Important
Assemblies promote transparency and inclusivity by providing a clear channel for communication between club leaders and members.
By involving members in the planning process, assemblies help create a shared vision and commitment to the club's success.
Regular assemblies facilitate effective club administration by fostering communication and allowing for adjustments to plans. |

REMEMBERING OUR HERITAGEWhen the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife moves to its new Augusta headquarters in 2026 on the east bank of the Kennebec River, the Friends of Fly Rod Crosby will be there to dedicate a monument that will honor Cornelia Thurza Crosby. “Fly Rod” Crosby was the unsurpassed fly fishing guide of the Rangeley Lakes who took her show on the road in the 1890s to market Maine far and wide. For her vision, outdoor skills and accomplishments, conservation ethic, and advocacy for the licensing of wilderness guides, “Fly Rod” was awarded Maine Guide license Number One. Inducted into the Maine Women’s Hall of Fame in 2018 she began to receive due recognition for her contribution Maine’s reputation as vacationland.
A BRONZE STATUE TO HONOR FLY ROD Our mission is to raise the needed funds from private donors and sponsors to present the state of Maine with a bronze statue of Cornelia Crosby which will stand outside the entrance to the new headquarters of the MDIFW (or an appropriate location on the grounds). Our goal is to unveil the monument at the dedication of the new Department building. Once she is standing where she can look across the Kennebec our work will be done. The 2022 Maine budget approved by Governor Janet Mills gave the state permission to buy two parcels of land in Augusta and build a new facility to serve as headquarters for the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife. |

Kenny R. Wing, co-author, The Lost Villages of Flagstaff Lake and noted expert of Benedict Arnold’s march through the Maine wilderness. Eight years after the Arnold Expedition, the Robert Forbes family traveled the same route from the south side of the St. Lawrence River to the Kennebec River, essentially retracing Arnold’s route in reverse. Based on a true story, the family of six emigrated from England to Canada to build a better life. Circumstances soon forced the family to leave Quebec and join Robert’s brother in the District of Maine. Led by three unscrupulous fur trappers who agreed to guide the young family through the 200-mile wilderness, the family was soon abandoned to fend for themselves. Kalloch draws on the journals of several men from the Arnold Expedition as the Forbes family struggles to reach the Kennebec River. |
